Rachel Weisz is an Academy Award winning actress and model. She was born March 7th, 1970 in London, England. She grew up in the suburbs of London. Her mother was born in Vienna and her father in Hungary, both who left their home countries due to WWII.

Weisz's first experiences with acting was for her university in Cambridge where she formed a drama group. The group won an award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. After finishing university, Rachel Weisz went on to pursue acting professionally. She got her first film roles in 1995 with first "Chain Reaction" and then "Stealing Beauty". Several other movies followed though they did not gain Weisz any significant recognition.

It wasn't until she was cast in the 1999 horror film "The Mummy" that Rachel Weisz began to get international recognition. This led to major roles in big budget films like "About a Boy", "Constantine", and "Enemy at the Gates". In 2005, Rachel Weisz starred in the film version of "The Constant Gardener". She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role along with several other awards and nominations. Since this role, Rachel Weisz has been in films such as "The Fountain", "My Blueberry Nights", "Definitely Maybe" and "Agora".

In addition to her work on films, Rachel Weisz has frequently appeared on stage. In 1995, she was in Sean Mathias's play "Design for Living". For her 2009 role in "A Streetcar Named Desire", Rachel Weisz won a Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress.

Rachel Weisz is engaged to the filmmaker Darren Aronofsky who is known for his films "Pi", "Requiem for a Dream", and "Fountain" (in which Weisz starred). The couple have been together since 2002 and they have a son named Henry Chance who was born in 2006. They all reside together in New York City.
